About Mary McCrae, LMT, CHC, CYT, MQP

High‑Performance Recovery Specialist

Known to her clients as “Miracle Mary.”

Mary McCrae has spent decades helping people whose lives ask a lot of their bodies.

Her work is shaped by years of hands-on practice, a lifelong relationship with performance, and firsthand experience with what sustained pressure can cost when recovery keeps getting pushed aside.

I’ve always been someone who pushes myself.

Long before bodywork became my profession, I understood performance through my own body.

I competed as a figure skater and bodybuilder, and I loved seeing what I was capable of when I trained seriously.

That drive followed me into the rest of my life.

I built a corporate food service business, later grew an ATM company to 170 customers, and raised my daughters at the same time.

During the busiest years, I spent one day every week driving as much as 14 hours, loading my own machines and covering locations throughout New York.

I didn’t think of any of that as extraordinary. I thought that was what you did when you wanted something badly enough.

My body was part of the workload, too.

The ATM business was physically demanding in ways people probably wouldn’t expect.

Hours in the car left my hamstrings so tight that I started seeing a massage therapist every week just to keep functioning.

I already knew what good bodywork could do for me.

Then, when my first daughter was preparing for open-heart surgery at four months old, I booked a massage because I needed relief from the stress I was carrying.

The session barely touched what I needed.

I remember walking away thinking:

If someone can make a living doing this, imagine what I could do if I really learned how to do it well.

That thought stayed with me.

Later that year, I enrolled in massage school while raising a one-year-old and building my business.

Then my own health forced me to look deeper.

For years, I had understood the body through movement, tension, and recovery.

Then I pulled my hair up for the gym one day and found a perfectly round bald spot about the size of a quarter.

More hair started coming out, sometimes enough that I would stand in the shower looking at it in my hands and thinking, I have to figure out what is happening to me.

I was eventually diagnosed with alopecia, a condition that causes partial or complete hair loss.

That experience pushed me to look at the body differently. I began exploring nutrition and more holistic approaches to health, and later became a health coach.

I could also see that I couldn’t keep carrying everything the way I had been.

I started seeing the body differently.

The deeper I went into bodywork, nutrition, movement, and the nervous system, the more I began to understand how connected everything is.

I realized that pain rarely exists in isolation.

When someone comes to me with a problem, I’m paying attention to the larger pattern their body has built around it.

I want to understand what the body is compensating for, what may be contributing to the tension, and what needs support in that moment.

That understanding became the foundation for the way I work today.

Over time, clients started calling me “Miracle Mary” after experiencing changes they could actually feel in their bodies.

The name stuck.

My therapeutic approach

I look for the pattern underneath the tension.

The place that hurts doesn’t always tell the whole story. I look at how the body moves, where it compensates, and what it needs in that moment, then draw from the therapeutic approaches that fit.

My Therapeutic Method May Include

  • Thai bodywork, compression, and fascial release
  • Lymphatic and nervous system support
  • Medical Qigong and somatic work
  • Active Isolated Stretching and mobility
